MATT BOGART

I am an interdisciplinary artist (producer, director, writer, actor, singer, educator), Martin Scorsese directed me as Robert Goulet in HBO’s Vinyl, I’ve starred in six Broadway shows opposite several Tony Award winners (Idina Menzel, Joaquina Kalukango, Alice Ripley, John Lloyd Young, Heather Headley, Sutton Foster, Beth Leavel, Gavin Creel) and principally sung and worked with Stephen Sondheim in our famed Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center venues. I have appeared in major film & television productions including the upcoming Jersey Boys Live (starring Nick Jonas), NBC’s The Good Fight, Law & Order, Smokey Joe’s Café and Jane Eyre.

I have co-produced and recorded a series of solo albums at Abbey Road Studios and in NYC.  I’ve produced and starred in feature films, Off-Broadway, directed, written and composed plays, musicals, concerts and cabaret.

I am a Lecturer at the University of Michigan in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD). My philosophy is to say, “yes” to everything, especially being in the room with great artists. I believe art and storytelling connects us, demanding we live more consciously and mindfully. As an artist and teacher, I aim to awaken and unlock every artist’s potential in an equitable and graceful manner, and I encourage healthy habits for a lasting career and a well-balanced life.

I live outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan with my wife, Director and Professor Jessica Boevers Bogart, and our two boys.
