Damn Yankees was produced at Arena Stage in Washington, DC where, after The Nationals first season had come to a close, DC was extremely welcoming of this classic baseball musical, set in it's very own city. Washington audiences took the production to "heart" as Arena involved local personalities to throw out the first pitch and invited local community and grade school singing clubs to perform the reprise of "You Gotta Have Heart." Performed in the Fichandler Arena Theater with a 30 person cast, one of Arena's largest ensembles, presented several challenges but also offered great opportunities in the way of stadium seating. Richard Adler, the show's composer, attended and gave the production his blessing on December 27th, 2005.
